01Before the name
The Room of the Future already existed.
At SyncRTC we had built the second generation of the Room of the Future before the LoopUp acquisition. Large displays, many participants and low-latency collaboration made remote people part of the architecture rather than thumbnails at the edge of a meeting.
02After the acquisition
A much larger room.
I became LoopUp Group CTO and President of Hybridium. The renamed product expanded into hybrid auditoriums, executive rooms and installations where video, spatial design and participation had to behave as one system.
03The lesson
The room was the product.
Camera placement, audio, sightlines, lighting, latency and interaction rules mattered as much as the software. A remote participant cannot feel present if the architecture keeps reminding everybody that they are elsewhere.
